A division of Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), the FME Commission is designed to attract investment and promote Jamaica as the location for varied entertainment offerings. The country’s ability to offer technical, production and general administrative assistance is complemented by the mandate to increase investment, export, employment and foreign exchange earnings.

Services provided for Music by the Commission include:

• Encouragement and empowering of industry leadership to guide the development process for the long term benefit of the music and the country
• Lobbying for incentives for the sector in order to increase investment and foreign exchange
• Encouragement and support of the development and strengthening of music industry associations
• Organization and maintenance of a national presence at music trade shows in order to facilitate the professional showcasing of Jamaican talent and product and the creation of business opportunities for Jamaican companies
• Provision of linkages between potential buyers and local industry players
• Conducting research on markets and trends for dissemination to the private sector
• Provision of public education in areas affecting the sector
• Lobbying for creation of venture capital funds and low interest financing options for the sector
• Reduction of bureaucratic procedures for the import/export of sector goods
• Promotion and marketing of investment opportunities, e.g. Resort Studios, Themed Entertainment and Venues
• Identification and sourcing of grant funds for local companies
• Encouragement and provision of sponsorship support for music conventions and special events in Jamaica
